Golf is a great game. It is played over picture perfect golf courses marked with lot of greenery, water bodies and lot of surrounding nature. It brings delight to those who play it and those who watch it. Amateurs look from a distance and assume that it is a simple game which includes impacting the ball with the club. They understand its not that easy once its their turn to hit the ball. It is then that it dawns on them that the simple club-ball process needs a lot of discipline, practice and talent.
As a player, you have got to work on three major defects. These are ineffective swing, poor grip and a lot of slice while hitting the shot. Ineffective swing fails to provide a smart trajectory to the shot. This means that the shot does not travel the distance. Moreover, it also does not go in the direction you are looking to hit it. Slices introduce false spin into the shot. Again the shot lands somewhere close by and that too in undesired direction. Wrong grips hinder wrist action and hence the control over the shot is completely lost.
A good grip involves as much of finger as possible. It helps in the introduction of wrist into the shot. This is why a player must avoid palm based grips. Another thing is complete body balance and relaxation while hitting the shot. Also look to rest at the top of the backswing for a couple of seconds. This gives higher momentum and direction to the downswing and club impact. For minimizing slices, a player should keep his chin on the nose line and the head perfectly still over the spine.
Golf balls have their own dynamics. The aerodynamics involved in the movement of a golf ball is due to the dimples in it. The dimples create a lift when a golfer uses spins on a golf ball. (Only the very best golfers can give a proper spin). The initial Gutta Percha ball did not go the distance. This led to a belief that if the balls were scored or marked, it could add to the distance they traveled on the fairway.
Thus came many kinds of surface designs. Today the dimpled golf balls are made of rubber core wound around a rubber thread. It has dimpled enamels for greater surface drag and friction. A marked ball has a greater separation drag. This is the change of pressure flow once an impact is being made by the club on the ball. A graphical illustration can let you know how it is very different from the one made in case of mark less balls.
Golf drivers are another important parcel of the game. Golf driver is the most costly and long golf club. Its constructed out of titanium and steel and the shaft is made up of graphite or steel. Its loft; the angle of the golf club face, is lowest among all the golf clubs and hence gives it great trajectory along with distance. Its size is either large, or middle or small.
